Is Premier Homecare Services a Canadian company?

Yes - we are proudly Canadian owned and operated with a strong commitment to the communities we work and live.

Will I have the same caregiver or will they change without notice?

We maintain consistency by having the same caregiver working with the same client. We feel this is the best way for a trusting relationship to develop.

Are all your caregivers bonded and insured?

Yes. All our caregivers are bonded and insured as our employees.

Do you do background checks on your caregivers?

Yes. We have a thorough screening program including employment history criminal record and vulnerable sector screening and driving record (abstract) background checks.

What training do your caregivers have?

First and foremost we look for caring and compassionate people who have a genuine respect for the elderly. We recruit qualified caregivers who have graduated from a recognized personal health care program with current CPR and First Aid certificates. We also hire companion caregivers with excellent experience from their personal circumstances. Every new employee attends our comprehensive orientation program and ongoing training is provided covering a wide variety of relevant topics.

Will we have to sign a contract?

No our clients are not bound to a contract. We have service agreements which outline the care plan particulars and request the client give reasonable notice (two weeks in most cases) for changes to services.

How is the billing handled?

Invoicing is typically run weekly or bi-weekly and payment is due upon receipt of the invoice. HST is outlined on the invoice. Check with your local agency for details.

Is there a minimum number of hours for service?

In most cases this is 3 hours. Under special circumstances we can accommodate unique service options.

What if I only want care as I come out of the hospital?

No problem. We will work with you to suit your unique needs. We can provide our premier care for a short or an extended period of time assisting you with your recovery in your own home.

Do you provide respite?

Yes. Respite is care that is provided to give the primary caregiver usually a spouse or child a break from their role. This could be on a regular basis to give the family caregiver some personal time to look forward to each week or could even be to provide care while on vacation. It is important that primary caregivers get a break and respite care allows them to care for themselves too.

Can you do palliative care?

Yes. Our non-medical services can make the final transitions of life at home easier. Our caregivers have the sensitivity compassion and experience to handle end-of-life situations.

Are you government funded?

No - we are not part of any publicly funded health authority. We are a private company providing a high level of quality care to our clients and their families wherever needed – either in one’s own home or in a facility. We often provide ‘top-up’ care to our clients who receive publically funded care who do not find enough care time is provided. Our goal is to work with all of your health care and service providers to make your life more independent and create a greater sense of well-being.

Do you have any information you can send me?
